BUFFALO, N.Y. — The group in charge of developing Buffalo's waterfront is looking for a new leader.
Jordan Levy, chairman of the Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation, resigned Wednesday after four and a half years.
Levy is also a general partner in a venture capital fund that is going after a state grant. To avoid a conflict of interest with the two projects, Levy chose to resign from his position with the Development Corp.
Colleagues credit Levy with helping expand the city's Central Wharf and for bringing hundreds of events and activities to the waterfront.
"The new chair will enjoy the benefits of Jordan's leadership. What does that mean? He's laid the groundwork. We've got at least seven projects that are being developed as we speak," said Sam Hoyt, Empire State Development Regional President.
Hoyt adds that Levy's resignation will not slow down any of the waterfront projects.
His replacement has not yet been named.
