Six people dead after chain reaction crash in Northern NY
Six people were killed Thursday in a chain reaction crash in Jefferson County.

It happened just after 9 a.m. Thursday in Antwerp on Route 11 near Dickson Road.

State Police say six vehicles were involved, including a tractor trailer and a DOT truck. Police say the driver of the tractor trailer hit stopped traffic in a construction zone, causing a chain reaction crash.

The car at the front of the line was carrying a family of five and burst into flames. Everyone in that vehicle was killed.

A sixth person, a woman in another vehicle, was taken to EJ Noble Hospital and pronounced dead.

Police say the DOT driver was flown to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse and is in critical condition.

Police tell us the tractor trailer is from a company called MBM out of North Carolina. The driver's name is James Mills. They say he was carrying a load of yogurt from North Lawrence.
