A former Rochester Amerk has been sentenced to prison for smuggling illegal drugs across the U.S.-Canadian border.
Thirty-year old Sean McMurrow of Toronto was sentenced to two years in prison and a $2,000 fine.
He played for the Amerks from 2003 to 2006. For two years during that time, McMurrow smuggled large quantities of marijuana from Canada into the U.S. by way of the Rainbow Bridge in Niagara Falls. McMurrow smuggled the drugs in hockey bags.
