Trial date scheduled for Ali Mohamad-Mohamud

BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Ali Mohamad-Mohamud was back in court Monday morning for a pre-trial hearing. Mohamad-Mohamud is charged with second degree murder in the death of his 10-year old stepson Abdifatah Mohamud.
Prosecutors announced they will not be offering Mohamad-Mohamud a plea deal in this case. He will stand trial beginning on October 9, 2012.
Mohamad-Mohamud was present at Monday morning's hearing.
Mohamad-Mohamud is accused of killing Abdifatah Mohamud by beating him to death with a rolling pin in the basement of their Guilford Street home in April.
Prosecutors also said they are waiting for a number of pieces of evidence to come back from the crime lab. They said it was a horrific scene with lots of blood and physical evidence.
Mohamad-Mohamud is being held without bail. There is another scheduled court date in September before the trial gets underway in October.
