SOUTHERN TIER — Governor Cuomo signed legislation Tuesday renaming several Southern Tier bridges.

The Route 76 bridge in Sherman that crosses over I-86 will now be know as the Alfred F. Jones Memorial bridge. Jones served in World War II and then later county government.
In the early 1990s, Jones led the effort to complete the last 20 miles of the four-lane interstate that connects the Southern Tier to Pennsylvania.

The West 3rd Street bridge in Jamestown will now be known as the Jamestown Veterans Memorial Bridge to honor the city's servicemen and women. The renaming will coincide with the dedication of a new veteran's park.

The Route 86 bridges that crosses Route 305 in Cuba, meanwhile, was renamed in honor of Sergeant Mark Bradley, a Cuba native who died in 2011 from combat injuries in Afghanistan.
