LAKEWOOD, N.Y. — Construction of an Olive Garden Italian Restaurant in Lakewood took another step forward Wednesday night as the village planning board officially approved the site plan.
An Olive Garden official went over the design and answered questions from the planning board members. Some concerns from the board included traffic patterns, storm water management and landscaping. If the village board approval and the permitting process continue on schedule, construction could begin in the fall.
"We've been working on this site for quite some time and the corporation appears to be anxious to be here," said Michelle Wright, representative for N&D Restaurants, Inc.
Wright says the restaurant will employ around 34 people. The next meeting will be held Monday, July 23rd at the village hall.
The Lakewood Olive Garden Italian Restaurant will be owned by N and D Restaurants Inc. which is a subsidiary of Darden Restaurants Inc. Darden also owns Red Lobster and other restaurants.
