FREDONIA, N.Y. — With eight straight wins, the Fredonia 11/12 year old Little Leaguers were flying high heading into Monday's sectional championship versus Penfield. That's when they faced their toughest test of the year, trailing 5-0 in the 5th in an elimination game.

"We had hope in ourselves still and the game is not over until it's over and we came back," said Noah Fleckenstein.

A comeback in grand style, scoring six answered runs to move on to the state championship in Long Island, where they will play in a six-day, double elimination, pool play tournament. More guaranteed baseball for 12 ballplayers who haven't even thought of shaving yet. They're enjoying these moments.

"I've had a lot of fun because it is a once in a lifetime opportunity and this is my last year in Little League so I have to make it the best that I can," said Chris Buchanan.

The Fredonia All-Stars are just two tournaments away from the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. They have to get through this double elimination tournament in the New York State Championship and then move on to the regional championship in Connecticut. That ultimate prize of making the world series is something these guys say they have dreamed of.

"I think it would be pretty sweet to go to the Little League World Series, but making it to states is pretty good," said Lucas Voss.

Great perspective from a 12-year-old who's coach says the team has played like they are on a fun business trip; a trip that continues when they leave for Long Island on Monday.
