Community helps to “Walk Off Hunger”
WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. - Walkers hit the pavement Saturday for the fifth annual Walk Off Hunger event.
Hundreds of people took to the street to raise awareness of those in need of food.
The family-friendly walk was an easy two-mile stroll through Williamsville.
Proceeds benefit the Food Bank of Western New York.
"This helps us feed the more than 101,000 individuals in four counties, including 41,000 children,” said Mike Billoni with the Food Bank of WNY. “In the summer-time, it's so much needed, because it's a slow time for donations.
Last year's walk raised more than $40,000. Proceeds from the last four years have totaled $160,000.
