BUFFALO, N.Y. - Applause filled St. Louis Church in Buffalo Thursday as the Most Rev. Richard Malone entered and made his way to the altar.
A day before his installation, the 14th Bishop of Buffalo received a warm welcome by hundreds of priests to the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo.
Bishop Edward Kmiec sat by his successor's side during a special service at the oldest parish in the Diocese.
Bishop Malone presided over the mass, reflecting on hope, faith and dreams.
“We must pray for each other, all of us, and care for one another,” said Bishop Malone. “I commit myself wholeheartedly to care for you.”
During the mass, he also thanked Bishop Kmiec for his service, which was then followed up by a room full of applause and love.
Bishop Malone will be installed as Bishop of Buffalo Friday. YNN will have complete coverage beginning at 2:30 p.m.
