BUFFALO, N.Y. — Increasing parent engagement is something Buffalo Public School board members say they want to increase this school year to make students successful.
During a Buffalo Public School meeting at Waterfront Elementary School #95, the board met with parents to discuss funding for programs within the district.
Parents were asked to submit comments by Thursday to address major initiatives the board wants to implement this year.
"We're not going to get the application until Thursday morning, and we got to make comments by Thursday night,” said Samuel Radford, president of the District Parent Coordinating Council. “I wouldn't call that meaningful involvement, but I would say for the record, that it's more involvement than we've ever had."
Education leaders will also hold a public meeting next Wednesday with City Council members to discuss transferring students out of low-performing schools.
