AMHERST, N.Y. - One local college football team was in the national spotlight Wednesday night as thousands of fans came to support them for the home opener.
A sea of blue filled University at Buffalo's stadium as loads of people filtered in to watch the UB Bulls face off against Ohio's Kent State.
"UB's on the rise and everybody knows it," said Edwin Crespo of Niagara Falls.
The midweek game was nationally televised on EPSNU.
UB Bulls fans wore their blue proudly showing support for one the team's biggest game in years.
"They work so hard day in, day out,” said UB junior Ainsley Wheldon. “They're so focused. If they really focus and put their mind to it, I think they can really do something this season."
Eddie Cichon of Cheektowaga agreed.
"They have a good offense, a good quarterback and I hear a very good running back," he said.
UB Bulls lost to the Golden Flashes 23 to 7.
