A 70-year old Attica man is behind bars after police say he fired a gun through his apartment door into a neighboring apartment.

Attica police charged James Wheeler with reckless endangerment and unlawfully growing and possessing marijuana. Police say they were called to Wheeler's Main Street apartment early Sunday for a report of shots fired.

Police say Wheeler fired a handgun through his apartment door. The bullet traveled through several walls, ending up in the kitchen area of an adjoining apartment.

While investigating the shooting, police found a quantity of marijuana they say Wheeler was growing.

Wheeler is being held on ten thousand dollars cash bond. No one was injured in the shooting.
