WESTFIELD, N.Y. — The Westfield Teachers' Association held a dedication ceremony Thursday evening to honor a graduate of the school killed while serving overseas.

The Sergeant Kevin White Wall of Honor was unveiled Thursday. The wall honors Sgt. Kevin White, who was killed in action in 2011 as well as the other veterans who attended Westfield Central School.

Staff Sergeant Victor Sorrento, a 2003 graduate and friend of Kevin, spoke about serving overseas and how much civilian support means to the troops.

White's family also attended the ceremony and listened to patriotic performances from the band and choir.

"When we began this we thought, well how many other people have been killed in action that maybe we haven't recognized up to this point? So we wanted to make sure that everyone was included," said Karen Belcher, Westfield Teachers Association president.

The wall includes more than 120 engraved names of both living and deceased Westfield veterans.
