BUFFALO, N.Y. — Meals on Wheels of Western New York served up a big milestone to one of its customers.
Meals on Wheels delivered its twenty-five millionth meal, on Thursday, to Kenneth Cheeves in South Buffalo.
The organization is the second Meals on Wheels in the nation to reach this milestone. A Meals on Wheels representative attributes this to western New York's aging population and great brand marketing.
"It's actually something were really proud that we've reached 25 million, because it shows we're achieving our mission and serving people in need in the community," said Rachel Leidenfrost, strategic communications director.
The local Meals on Wheels began food service in 1969 and currently serves 4,000 meals a day to 3,300 customers.
