Pioneering jazz composer and pianist Dave Brubeck has died, one day before he was going to turn 92 years old.

Brubeck's manager says he died Wednesday morning of heart failure after being stricken while on his way to a cardiology appointment.

Brubeck was a regular performer at the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival over the years.

The Dave Brubeck Quartet's 1959 album "Time Out," which includes the classic "Take Five," was the first ever million-selling jazz LP.

Dave Brubeck was 91 years old.
