JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A member of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Gold Medal women's gymnastic team paid a visit to a Jamestown middle school and brought an important message with her.

Aly Raisman spoke to more than 400 students at Persell Middle School as part of the "Ask, Listen, Learn" Program. The gymnast talked about the dangers of underage drinking and urged the students to lead a healthy lifestyle.

"I definitely would not be where I am today if I drank and if I didn't exercise and if I didn't care about having healthy lifestyle," said Raisman.

"Having Aly here today and the Century Council talking about the importance of healthy lifestyles; very, very important," said Phil Cammarata, principal.

The event was filmed and will be featured in a national public service announcement.

Raisman is in town for the Progressive Skating and Gymnastics Spectacular at the Jamestown Savings Bank Ice Arena on Saturday.
