A record $229,000 was given away at the 6th annual Kelly for Kids luncheon in Blasdell.
The charity's founder, Jim Kelly, presented a check to local organizations that help kids.

Among the recipients, the Depew-Lancaster Boys and Girls Club which was recently damaged by a fire.

"We didn't salvage any of our sporting equipment so this is going to be huge for the kids," said Dave Lewandowski of the Depew-Lancaster Boys & Girls Club. "It will help us get a place in order and get some new equipment going."

"It's something when you listen to them and hear what $2,500, $10,000 means to their charity. That makes your heart feel good and you know you're doing the right thing," Kelly said.

In it's 26th year, the Kelly for Kids Foundation has donated nearly $5-million to local charities.
