BUFFALO, N.Y. — Hundreds of people took a bite out of Buffalo, all to raise money for The Buffalo Zoo.
The zoo's annual winter fundraiser, Polar Bites, was held Thursday night at the Convention Center. Attendees sampled food and wine from local restaurants, took part in silent and basket auctions, and even received visits from some friendly animals.
Organizers say its one of their biggest fundraisers of the year.
"It is a great feeling to get this kind of support from our community. We rely on our community to survive, and Buffalo has really been there for us," said Katie Jordan, Buffalo Zoo Senior Events Coordinator.
Organizers hope to raise more than than $50,000.
The Buffalo Zoo was created in 1875 and is the third oldest zoo in the country.
