As part of a grassroots "hotel week" promotion, eight New York City properties are banding together to put heads in beds at a needy time of the year, the industry downtime from January 6th to the 15th.
“Right after the holidays is notoriously the slowest period for New York City hotels," says Deirdre Yack of Hyatt 48 Lex. "The holidays are over, corporate travelers haven’t really started to ramp up, so it’s a nice little pocket of time to offer some great rates."
The new boutique-style Hyatt 48 Lex at 48th Street (48lex.hyatt.com) and Lexington and Andaz Wall Street (newyork.wallstreet.andaz.hyatt.com) are two in the collection offering limited availability rates of $200 a night, half what they normally cost.
For those on more of a budget, four hotels are offering rooms for $100. Two of the Apple Core hotels in Midtown, the New York Manhattan Hotel or "nyma" and the Hotel @ Times Square are participating (www.applecorehotels.com), along with the Pod Hotel in Midtown East (www.podhotel.com) and Z hotel in Long Island City, Queens (www.zhotelny.com).
A third tier of pricing, at $250 a night, is subject to availability at both of the Gansevoort hotels, on Park Avenue (www.gansevoortpark.com) and in the Meatpacking District (www.hotelgansevoort.com).
Mention “hotel week”, when calling the hotel directly or booking through the hotel’s website. Quantities are limited.
