Even as both the housing market and the economy slowly come back to life, builders and developers in upstate New York continue to create new neighborhoods. Multi-home communities are being built all over and they are actually selling.

"We do a lot of developing that provides community sizes that range from 25 homes to a couple of hundred homes. You'll see a variety of product. Single family homes, townhomes and condominiums that our company has available," said George Amedore, a custom homebuilder. "We pre-sell a lot of our product. By pre-selling it, you have to have a model that you can show, have people walk through."

Just because it is part of a developed community, it does not mean you are getting some "cookie cutter" house. In fact, according to Amedore, the customization he provides to his customers is his favorite part of the job.

"I think the building process is a fun and exciting process to go through. Our company strives on making it, personalizing it, and making that flow of construction, taking a lot of the fears, a lot of the unknowns out of the equation," said Amedore.

If you are looking for something that is turnkey-ready, you might want to check out a townhome development. Big developers such as Amedore, will let you completely personalize the interior with a variety of options.

"We also have homes on speculation and inventory that are kind of the quick, ready, move in type of product that they can take occupancy within 30 to 45 days from purchasing," explains Amedore.

New construction, according to Amedore, is also energy efficient. Homes are built with your utility bill in mind. Plus, with an array of Energy Star rated appliances to choose from when working with the developer's designers, you will be well on your way to saving green while going green.
