It's always good to get a blast of history especially when it's about our own state. This Getaway to the New York State Museum in Albany does just that! Housed in the Cultural Education Center at the south end of the Empire State Plaza on Madison Avenue, the museum has an enormous collection of everything New York!

Expect to see very interesting and important exhibits like 'The World Trade Center-Rescue, Recovery, Response', 'The Civil War', 'The Adirondack Wilderness', 'Metropolis Hall', 'Native Peoples of New York' and many more. There's even a Children's Discovery Center and a historic carousel!

Admission to the museum is free! (donations gladly accepted)

Hours: Tuesday - Sunday 9:30am-5pm. (Closed Mondays) Carousel Hours 10am-4:30pm

Paid parking available on both sides of the museum off of Madison Avenue.

Getn' There: New York State Thruway to Exit 24. Continue on I-90 east to I-787 South to Exit 3B to Madison Ave. US 20 West. Follow Madison Ave for about a mile.
