UNITED STATES -- With less than three months to Election Day, you’ll often find the candidates in swing states like Colorado, where President Obama made two stump speeches Thursday, assailing, among other things, his opponent’s economic plan.

"We don’t need tax cuts for folks that are doing really, really well. We need to keep taxes low for working Americans like you," Obama said.

Romney’s tax plan has become a major point of attack for Obama supporters, some of whom held a news conference here in the city Thursday, noting Romney was in town for a closed Park Avenue fundraiser.

"Romney has chosen New York as the place to highlight this bad economic plan and what we are doing today is saying, New Yorkers know better," said Stuart Applebaum of the Retail Wholesale and Department Store Union.

Democrats have seized on a recent report from the Tax Policy Center, a non-partisan think tank, which found that households making more than $200,000 a year would benefit under the Romney plan, while taxes would have to increase for the other 95 percent of the population.

"To impose more taxes on low and middle income people in order to fund huge tax cuts for wealthy people, is obnoxious, is obscene, frankly," said Representative Jerrold Nadler.

Meanwhile, controversy continued over this pro-Obama ad featuring a man whose wife died after Bain Capital shut his plant and he lost his health insurance. Romney called the ad disappointing and released his own ad attacking an Obama policy that would force some religious institutions to pay for contraception.

Romney’s now preparing for a bus tour and an announcement, expected any day, of a vice presidential running mate.
