The Spa Spot: Fever knocks Shanghai Bobby out of 'Special'
Likely favorite Shanghai Bobby has been scratched from the Saratoga Special with a fever.
Don Lucarelli of Starlight Racing said the Harlan's Holiday colt was found to have a fever on Sunday morning, several hours before the Grade 2 race for 2-year-olds.
Shanghai Bobby broke his maiden by four lengths in April and won the Track Barron Stakes on June 27.
The co-featured Grade 2 Adirondack for fillies also lost a runner Sunday morning when Sweet Shirley Mae was scratched by trainer Wesley Ward.
