NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Christian Siriano's Fall 2011 collection was inspired by black orchids.
"It was really all about the petal shape and these very dark tones, these dark, dark, muted, almost creepy green colors. She's almost like a creature in a way," Siriano said.
Exotic "creatures" draped in silk organza, crepes, chiffon, wool and leather as well as rich, dark prints and petal-like designs bloomed down the runway.
"From jacket lapels that are really oversized to look like leaves and plant life to very flowy and organic draped cocktail dresses, that also give that effect. Other than that, I took it into a way that I still wanted the clothes to be wearable," Siriano said.
Style experts say they think not only his attention to detail, but also his customers, is what makes his clothes so special.
"He just wants them just to look their most glamorous, he loves the bows, he loves the sequins, he loves the color, he loves dressing women up," said Harper’s Bazaar Contributing Fashion Editor Mary Alice Stephenson.
Siriano is also continuing his line of shoes for Payless Shoesource.
"The shoes kind of have this straight front, almost look like a hoove. So it really was about this nature, creature, kind of creepy, but romantic kind of way," Siriano said.
If you think you can't afford a Christian Siriano gown, well think again. This season he has an equally glamorous line for the Spiegel Catalogue.
NY1 visited Siriano before Fashion Week to get a sneak peek.
"Just because you're a mass brand that makes clothes for an affordable price doesn't mean you can't create something from fantasy that's great. And that's kind of what I like to do, with Payless we do that," Siriano said.
"He's really making fashion available for everyone around the country in a beautiful way," said TV Personality and Fashion Expert Jill Martin.
Whether it's red carpet ready or affordable looks, Siriano just wants to make his customers feel beautiful.
