BUFFALO, N.Y. — Next week at this time, we'll be in the middle of AAA All-Star festivities in downtown Buffalo.
And the Bisons heavy hitter will take his hacks in front of the home crowd as part of the Home Run Derby.
Valentino Pascucci was named one of six participants for the slugfest July 9 at Coca-Cola Field.
Through Monday, the 33-year-old led the Bisons in homers and RBI this season. He's 2nd among active players for career minor league home runs with 244, 51 one of those coming in the last three seasons with Buffalo.
"It would be fun if I got an opportunity to do that and have the fans behind me for that, hopefully it would be an advantage for me," said Pascucci. "It's a great honor to be an All-Star as it is, but when you get do it your home city in front of your home crowd it's just that extra edge."
The Home Run Derby on July 9 will be followed by the 25th All-Star Game on July 11. Joining Pascucci on the roster will be teammates Fernando Cabrera and Matt Harvey.
The Bisons also hosted the first All-Star Game in 1988.
