Chandler's role

By: YNN Staff

As Bills fans had a chance to sit back and watch some Thanksgiving Day football, much of the Turkey sandwich chatter probably revolved around Sunday's matchup with the Colts - and how the Bills will fare in another pivotal game.

One of the keys to the game could be Scott Chandler. Through 10 games, the Bills tight end has 380 yards and five touchdowns. He's only nine yards and one TD away from duplicating last year's production - when he played 13 games and earned a contract extension. This season, he's been worked into more snaps, partly because of the injury to David Nelson.

"He is a guy that does a great job in going up for catches and so it is a mismatch," said Ryan Fitzpatrick. "We feel like even if David Nelson was healthy this year, getting away from the four wide receiver stuff and getting him on the field more was probably something that was going to happen."

"I think he has learned to become a lot better route runner since he first got here," Added Chan Gailey. "Maybe part of that was us not recognizing what he could do. You have to let a guy get here and play, then learn what his strengths are and use those strengths to your advantage.

"He is exceptional in the red zone. We have to try to keep using him in the red zone. He is a good one-on-one player, so we have to try to find spots to get him involved."
