"I'm just dying to go to work, dying to go to work, because we have a lot of work to do," he said at his introductory news conference Monday.

After 13 years of missing the playoffs, the Bills and their fans don't have to be reminded of the work that needs to be done.

Marrone comes in from the college ranks, revitalizing the program at Syracuse over the past four years. He was a part of an upswing for the Saints as their offensive coordinator from 2006-2008.

"He gets a lot of credit for what they did in New Orleans," said general manager Buddy Nix. "So he's been through it rebuilding and turning around. We're not in a rebuilding mode, but turning around attitude and turning around teams, he's done it."

The coach echoed Nix's thoughts on Marrone's ability to change the culture of a team.

"I'm exciting about this; I've done this before. Been in this league as a player, been here as a coach, I've gone through this change and I'm excited to work with the players in this change."

One of the big questions to begin the Doug Marrone era -- does this mean the end of the Ryan Fitzpatrick era as the Bills starting quarterback, and what is his future role with the team?

"I have not had the time to make those evaluations," said Marrone. "I do not talk about players in the press. I'm looking forward to evaluate this team with our great scouting staff, getting together with them, and starting that process."

He'll also quickly take on the task of assembling a coaching staff.

"Obviously with the coordinators, we want people with thorough NFL experience, as far as especially on the defensive side of the ball," said Marrone. "Offensively, we want people with NFL experience. I think our coordinators, we want to make sure that they've been in this league."

And so the work begins.
