LITTLE VALLEY, N.Y. — "I love working here. I've been in banking for 7 years. It's very family feeling and it's nice to work here," said Jackie Traniello, a bank teller at Cattaraugus County Bank.
Apparently, the other 64 employees of Cattaraugus County Bank agree with Traniello. The bank is a finalist in Buffalo Business First’s Best Places to Work for 2012 for medium-sized companies.
Employees were encouraged to fill out a survey related to different areas such as leadership, managers, and teamwork.
"What they did was interviewed our employees online. It was handled through a third party company so that we don't ever see individual results which allows the employee to be totally honest," said Laurie O'Leary, human resources officer with Cattaraugus County Bank.
The bank was initially interested in the survey to receive feedback from employees, both positive and negative.
"We are intending to look at those results and try to improve ourselves wherever we can, because it's a very competitive business. It's a very competitive economic climate and we have to continue to strive and strive to be the best we can," said Sal Marranca, president of Cattaraugus County Bank.
"It'll be an overall rating that we will be allowed to look and it will allow us to know where we can do a better job," said O'Leary.
O’Leary cites the company’s low turnover rate in an industry where turnover is typically high. One employee says the fast paced environment is also a plus.
"There's such a variety of things to do. I don't ever really know what my day is going to hold for me. We get a great chance to learn and CCB promotes from within so that really makes for a great opportunity especially when you live in a small community like we do," Dawn Tocha, retail manager with CCB.
The bank has nine branch locations in three counties across Western New York.
Cattaraugus County Bank is competing against 11 other companies for the title. The winner will be announced on March 1st.
