Shanshan Feng has won the 2012 Wegmans LPGA Championship shot a 5- under final round, 6- under overall for the tournament.
For 36 years the LPGA has teed it up in Rochester, it's the 3rd year it's been contested as a major championship.
Event organizers say it's been another successful week at Locust Hill Country Club.
"We've been fortunate this week most of the time to have great weather, which produces great crowds and nice revenue and puts a positive cap on the event," says Jerry Stahl, Tournament Co-chairman.
"As usual the crowds here are some of the best on tour," said Mike Scanlan, LGPA Director of Media Communications. "The support that our players feel is second to none. All in all a fantastic week."
The tournament came to a close on Sunday evening, and so to does the contract that made the Wegmans LPGA a Major Championship, leaving the future of the tournament in question.
"Prior to this week we agreed that we would wait until late June, early July to discuss the future of the event because we wanted to make this week special. At this time we have no news to report, but like I said, Rochester is a community that's extremely important to the LPGA. It's one of our cornerstones and we look forward to being here for many more years," says Scanlan.
"On our side we're discussing the wonderful community, the great crowds," said Stahl. "On their side, they're discussing the financial aspect and all of that. So it's trying to get those two things together to come up with two happy partners."
Stahl says he has a sense that both sides want to make a deal happen and hopes to have negotiations wrapped up in about a month or so, in hopes to keep the Wegmans LPGA as one of the four major championships on tour.
