BUFFALO, N.Y. — The investigation continues into a three-alarm fire that destroyed a CSX warehouse late Tuesday night.
The vacant building on Reiman Street in Buffalo's Lovejoy neighborhood was a total loss and will be demolished.
Fire crews returned to the scene Wednesday to search for a cause and firefighters also put out some hot spots that were still burning.
The fire started around 9 p.m. Tuesday. Extra crews had to be called in to battle the heavy flames. It took several hours to get the fire under control.
Fire officials say although the building was empty, it was a tough fire to fight.
"It was steel and wood and the wood is combustible and pretty much all the wood was burning but the wood was empty," said Battalion Chief Michael Biasillo.
Buffalo Fire Commissioner Garnell Whitfield said a stray firework may have caused the fire, but right now the cause is unknown.
