Racing for the Skora's Is a Family Affair

NORTH EAST, PA — Forty hours. For most it's a work week.
For George Skora and his crew chief Karl Krueger, it's the time spent in the family garage wrenching on their late model. Large portions of that time George is joined by his family, mom, dad, his girlfriend, and grandma who gather around the car - the same way other families huddle around the dinner table.
"Our family we go racing, this is what we do, this is what we love. It brings the family together, racing. It is a small sports, it is a family sport," said Skora.
On the outside, their time spent in the garage appears to bring the car together. Inside you see it's the family that grows closer.
"I think our bond is a little different than most. Maybe that is part of the success, twelve years we've been doing this out of this little garage." said Krueger.
That little garage has produced numerous points championships.
Once the bulk of the mechanics are done in the garage, George and his team travel 90 minutes south from Eden to North East, Pennsylvania. At Lake Erie Speedway is where things are fine-tuned just before the rubber meets the road.
"We can get right down to the minute changes or a shock if we needed to. Basically once we get here we are set from our preparation from the week and we are ready to race." said Skora.
The Skora's don't just race, they win. George currently leads the late model points at Lake Erie Speedway, but he admits the wins wouldn't be as meaningful without his family.
