Inmate Dies Days After Suicide Attempt
BUFFALO, N.Y.-- An inmate who attempted suicide at the Erie County Holding Center last weekend has died.
According to Undersheriff Mark Wipperman, 54-year-old Edward Berezowski of Williamsville was found hanging from his cell last Sunday afternoon.
He was taken to Buffalo General where he remained in critical condition throughout the week.
Sheriff's officials say he died at the hospital early Friday morning.
The Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident to determine whether all policies were followed at the Holding Center.
