Inmate caught making false claims

By: YNN Staff

ALDEN, N.Y. — A man serving time at the Erie County Correctional Facility now faces additional charges after making false claims of being sodomized by a corrections officer.

Salvatore Andrews, 38, is currently serving a six-month sentence at the correctional facility in Alden.

The Erie County Sheriff's Office says Andrews claimed he was sodomized by an officer so he would be transferred to a jail closer to his wife in Albion. A lengthy investigation showed no medical or security evidence of the claim.

Andrews now faces charges of felony perjury and making a false statement.
