JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — City leaders in Jamestown continued to hash out the details of the 2013 budget as they heard from department heads of police and fire Monday evening.
While the police chief was looking to have some funds to battle drugs restored, the fire chief expressed the need to replace some aging vehicles.
Council is looking for cuts to the 6% property tax increase proposed in the mayors budget.
"What do you do when your expenses keep going up by double digits and your revenue sources don't? You'll find yourself in a real tight spot and we're in one," said Greg Rabb, City Council President.
There is a public hearing scheduled at 6 p.m. on the 16th in council chambers.
The budget is due by December 1st.
