Supporters of incumbent Republican Tom Reed in the 23rd Congressional District racewere cheering late Tuesday night for his re-election bid.

Reed declared victory over Democratic challenger Nate Shinagawa in the newly redrawn district.

During Reed's victory speech, he thanked his family, friends and supporters through the months of campaigning.

When Reed heads back to Washington, he wants to focus on getting the country back on track for his constituents.

"To have that bipartisan reputation in Washington because we have to solve these problems. The problems that face America be that our jobs crisis, getting people back to work in the private sector, be at the fiscal crisis, the debt crisis, we have to solve them," said Reed, (R).

Reed gained the Jamestown and Ithaca areas due to redistricting.
