BUFFALO, N.Y. β€” Officials broke ground on a new multimillion dollar facility in the City of Buffalo, which will soon be the new home of Catholic Health.

Catholic Health officials and local leaders gathered at the site downtown on Genesee Street on Wednesday for the ceremony.

The $46 million project will be the new administrative headquarters and regional training center, merging the current eight scattered buildings across the city into one.

Catholic Health officials said the move will not only save them $1 million per year for the next 25 years, but also improve efficiency and patient care.

"We'll be looking at environmentally sustainable options for the building,” said Chuck Hayes, the communications manager. β€œThe building will feature state-of-the-art technology. It'll be wired properly, wireless technology.”

Catholic Health's new headquarters is expected to open in 2014.
