GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. -- One man is dead after a one-car accident in Grand Island Sunday afternoon.
Erie County sheriff's deputies say a truck hit a utility pole before crashing into a tree on Baseline Road.
A Grand Island man in his 50s died at the scene.
“Patrol arrived, and the victim was extricated from the vehicle,” said Sgt. Greg Kent. “He was worked on by emergency medical services, to no avail. He was determined to be dead at the scene of the accident.”
National Grid was called in to help clean up the electrical wires, which they say were no threat to the area.
There's no word yet on a cause of the crash.
