BUFFALO, N.Y. — Police have arrested two teens in a case involving a burned puppy.
Police made the announcement Tuesday night and say a tip they got over the weekend led them to the teens. Charges are being finalized but police expect the them to face felony animal cruelty charges.
The four-month-old Jack Russell terrier puppy, named Phoenix, was found on fire a few weeks ago. He is slowly recovering from severe burns at the Buffalo Animal Shelter and now has bacteria in his system. He's been placed on new antibiotics as a result.
Phoenix was recently put in foster care, and the shelter says its received more than 100 adoption applications for him.
The names of the teens, meanwhile, have not been released.
