BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Veterans in need sat down for a free Thanksgiving meal in Buffalo this weekend.

The Veterans Association of Western New York Healthcare System hosted their twelfth annual Thanksgiving dinner, giving back to nearly 150 veterans and their families who have fallen on hard times.

Dinner organizer Judith Kazmerak says this is just one small way to give back to America's heroes.

"I just think everyone is so thankful for getting together," Judith Kaczmerak, dinner organizer. "I see veterans shaking hands with one another, maybe they haven't seen each other for awhile."

Dozens of V.A. employees and volunteers served the veterans. Kaczmerak said there's never a shortage of volunteers wanting to help our veterans and thank them for their service.
