The village came in fifth in the rankings. Lewiston was cited for its dining, as it topped the magazine's best food rankings. The village's historic status was also noted, along with the numerous festival that run through the summer and fall.

But those who live there say it's the people what makes the village great.

Jim Mezhir, a Lewiston native, said, "I think it's because of the people, I think it's because of the community. I think it has a great deal to do with the community working together to make things better".

Lewiston has also been featured twice in the past two years on the Travel Channel.
