GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. --- A man in the custody of the Erie County Sheriff's office
tried to commit suicide Monday morning by jumping over a second floor railing at the Town of Grand Island court.

The sheriff's office says 20-year old Sean Riordan had just been arraigned and properly secured.

As we was being led out of court he ran from deputies and jumped over the railing. He fell about 15 feet to the floor below. Riordan was taken to ECMC and is in stable condition.

He was arrested November 17th after he allegedly stabbed his roommate.

The investigation continues.
