With Thanksgiving fast approaching, Buffalo educators are giving back to those in need.
The Buffalo Teachers Federation handed out meals to more than 200 less fortunate families Tuesday in an effort to make Thanksgiving enjoyable.
Each family's bag of groceries was provided by Tops Markets and then divided among local charities and shelters.
Union President Phil Rumore says the donations are a great way to give thanks for good fortunes.
"The bottom line is that we're going to be feeding a Thanksgiving dinner to well over 200 families in the City of Buffalo on behalf of the teachers, and it's just our small way of saying, giving thanks for what we have," Rumore said.
This marks the sixteenth year the union has provided Thanksgiving meals.
