After filling up on turkey with all the fixings, many across Western New York are out at stores, hoping to get deals. Katie Cummings has more.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. -- People started lining up as early as 7 p.m. Thursday at the fashion outlets to try and get to the head of the line for deals.

Customers were eager to get in as doors opened around 10 p.m. Thursday. A tailgate party featuring music and food kept people busy while waiting in the chilly weather.

While some came on a mission to find great deals, others just came to enjoy the atmosphere.

“It's her first time ever going out to anything Black Friday, so that's the main reason and also I've been here the past three years and I always like how they have a concert and stuff,” Buffalo resident Steven Gangloff said.

"I didn't even look to see what the discounts were. I just love this. The hecticness of it and everything,” said Emily Hannel of Lancaster. “I'm excited!"

"They have a bag that is only available on Black Friday and so you have to come and if you don't buy it by nine, you can't get it because it’s a limited edition and I'm going to get that bag," Buffalo resident Rachel Taggart said.

Just south on Niagara Falls Boulevard at the Target and Best Buy in Amherst, some were camped out as early as noon on Wednesday. Many Canadian visitors came out because they say the deals are irresistible.

“The discounts aren't the same, even for Boxing Day. The prices still aren't as good as here. In Toronto, you save a nickel or dime here and there, but when you come out to Buffalo, you save hundreds of dollars,” Canadian resident Kevin Harbens said.

Canadian resident Assunta Jeffery said, “It has become almost the Canadian thing to do. Take a day off. Take maybe two days off. Come here for U.S. Thanksgiving and shop.”

Police were on location in both locations to make sure everyone stayed safe. Shoppers are expected to keep pouring through throughout the morning.
