Jamestown Puts Its Holiday Spirit On Parade
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - It started with the lighting of the Christmas Tree on Tracy Plaza.
The 2012 Jamestown Christmas Parade and Holiday celebration made its way down Third Street in downtown Jamestown Friday night.
"While it may be a little chilly out tonight, the warmth in the crowd is unbelievable, and anything that can bring together 10, 12, 15,000 people in the heart of the downtown area is good for the entire community," said Sam Teresi, (D) Jamestown Mayor.
"This event has become part of the fabric of the community, the actual fabric, and its certainly personally very rewarding, to put on an event like this and have it turnout like this," said Lee Harkness, Downtown Jamestown Development Corporation.
"A Tradition of Caring" was the theme for this year's parade. Hundreds of floats and a host of others put their holiday spirit on display as thousands of paradegoers lined the streets to take it all in.
"I love this place and I come here every year and its so awesome," said Cameron.
"I like all the different floats and the different people, a lot of my friends are going to be in it today."
"I like all the floats and the cops and I like to support downtown Jamestown," said Logan and Xavier.
"I love Christmas and I'm here to watch a lot of the Aspire and Resource Center kids walking the parade because some are students I had from years ago," said Mike Sayers, Lakewood resident.
The parade ended with arrival of Santa Claus followed by fireworks lighting the night sky.
