CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY, N.Y. — The Chautauqua County Humane Society announced a cat adoption promotion called the "Buddy System" to make room for building renovations that begin in January.
The "Buddy System" offers a $60 adoption fee for one cat, or you can adopt 2 for $80. For that price the cats will have been fixed, vaccinated and micro-chipped. The shelter is looking to find a home for about 40 cats.
"If you've done renovation at home, you know that its going to be a lot of noise, a lot of people in and out and it would be better if they were in a home, and we don't want to displace them into another location just to bring them back in here, said Susanne Bloom, shelter manager.
The shelter raised $25,000 to make improvements to the cat colony facility that they hope will make the cats more adoptable.
