Pit bull shot in head recovering at SPCA
Another disturbing animal cruelty case - this time, a pregnant pit bull was shot in the head. Miraculously the dog lived, and is now at the SPCA recovering. YNN's Katie Morse was there, and tells us more about Layla.

Just looking at the x-ray of Layla the dog, with bullet fragments still in her head, it's hard to believe she could survive what happened to her.
"She was shot through the head, through the neck, right through the ear," explained Erie County SPCA Executive Director Barbara Carr.
But Layla is a fighter. The pit bull survived after being shot at what experts believe was close range on South Park Avenue.
She was brought to the SPCA a little more than a week ago, and vets have been faced with another challenge. Layla is pregnant, so they had to be very careful when they treated her.
"The bullet went all the way through, and there's some fragments, but because she's pregnant we really can't do any surgery on her," Carr said.
Layla is doing well, although she's still a little camera shy. The SPCA's vet thinks her puppies could be born within the next two weeks.
Officials say, they're just hoping these recent cases of dog abuse in Western New York stop soon.
"It's been a bad couple of weeks. I don't know why that is, why we're seeing so many cases right now, they all seem to be banging on us one after another, after another," said Carr.
Sources say an arrest has been made in this case, but we're waiting to learn more information from police.
Meantime, the bullet that hit Layla appears to have missed any vital parts of her head and jaw, and she's just resting comfortably until her puppies are born.
