12-12-12 has significant meaning to some
Some might think it's just another Wednesday, but to others the date 12-12-12 has a special meaning. However, one researcher believes it's just a number. YNN's Katie Cummings spoke with both sides about the day.

WESTERN NEW YORK — The date December 12th, 2012 was significant for the Givans, as they chose the day to get married at Niagara Falls City Hall.
"There’s not going to be another 12-12-12 for a hundred years so I figured why not, it’s a special day. Just from some reading online, it said that 12 is like a symbol of a new beginning, so that's what this is for us," said Scott and Stacey Givan, who got married on 12-12-12.
Others, like the parents of Skyler Adriana didn’t anticipate the day would be so significant until she was born at exactly 12:12 Wednesday afternoon.
"To me, it was just a date. I’m just happy to have a baby," said Kip Hund and Halie Woronchuck, who's baby was born on 12-12-12, "She’s starting her fame career young."
But one skeptic thinks it’s really just another day.
"Twelve months in a year, 12 apostles, 12 signs of the zodiac and so forth. Twelve from a poetic and sort of traditional sense has... is kind of a number symbolizing completeness but it has no scientific basis," said Joe Nickel, Committee for Skeptical Inquiry Senior Research Fellow. "It’s purely what’s called magical thinking; oh maybe mystical forces are at work, but in science you look for rational thinking and you look for cause and effect."
The Givans could have chosen any date to get married but were determined to avoid next year.
“I told him we're not getting married next year because it would be 13 on our anniversary," said the Givans.
Meanwhile, Nickel says the superstition surrounding dates won’t stop this year.
"2013 with two Friday the 13ths, oh my goodness we're going to have really bad luck. No we aren’t. It’s just, these are just another day, another year," said Nickel.
But 12-12-12 is a date that the Givans will remember for years to come.
“He won’t forget the date... yeah exactly,” said Givan, "You have no excuse now when our anniversary comes up"
