Residents in the Southtowns are not unfamiliar with snow. Friday evening, snow is blowing in Hamburg and some heavy winds made traffic lights sway.

Dave Gates of North Collins came to buy a portable generator while others were just out running errands.

"We're from the Southtowns, so they said it's possible to get 13 inches, at least a foot of snow, and I want to make sure I have power," he said.

"I wasn't expecting it to be this cold I guess," said Brendan Degal.

"I want it for Christmas and then I want it gone," said Jenna Cardamone.

The snow is expected to continue into Saturday. The roads are slick so drivers are urged to use caution.
