Fans react to Bills lease
And Friday's announcement on the Bills new 10 year lease agreement effects more than just the team and their current home. YNN's Meg Rossman has reaction from those with the biggest stake in the team's future – the fans.
BUFFALO, N.Y. – "I don't know why they'd want to move in the first place. It's the Buffalo Bills. Why would that change," Bills fan Kris Lilek asked.
Turns out it won't – at least not for the next ten years, after officials signed a new lease for the team Friday.
"Whatever they got to do,” Dwight Clark said. “It's better than having to go to Toronto to see the game every year, or L.A."
In fact, fans won't be traveling very far at all, instead heading back to the Ralph next season which is set to undergo $130 million in improvements.
"Concourses, bathrooms, a lot of simple amenities that you'll find at stadiums across the league were long overdue for some modernization at Ralph Wilson Stadium,” Buffalo Fan Alliance President Matt Sabuda said following the announcement. “I think will go a long way to creating an amazing fan experience for the next seven years and to come."
After which local and state officials could start looking into a new, permanent home here in Western New York – an added bonus to Friday's announcement.
"In order to keep the team in Western New York, I think that you need to be proactive, they need to be proactive and by all indications they're doing so," he said.
But whether the early Christmas gifts make a difference to the fans of the team, though, remains to be seen.
"I think the product on the field is what's actually going to keep the fans going," Mark DeMarco said.
