CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY, N.Y. — Local snowmobilers finally have what they've been waiting for.

The recent snowstorm dropped enough snow for snowmobile clubs to groom and open trails Friday. But club officials say warm ground has been melting snow from the bottom and creating mud holes.

"There is some wet spots; you gotta slow down. But the problem is the mud is going to spread onto the white snow and then that's going to start melting that. And if we don't get any more snow here in a couple of days, I imagine these trails are going to be shot and we'll have to close again and wait for the weather to cooperate," said Chris Jaynes, Chautauqua Lake Snowmobile Club.

Club officials remind snowmobilers to stay on the trails and to respect property they ride on.
